The Adamson University Lady Falcons are off to a hot start in the second round of the eliminations after taking down the University of Sto. Tomas Lady Tigresses, 11-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday, at the PhilSports Arena.
The Lady Falcons overcame on opening set meltdown, getting back at UST in the succeeding sets to complete a four-set repeat victory.
Trisha Tubu dropped 21 points on 15 attacks and season-high six kill blocks, while Kate Santiago and Lucille Almonte had nine points apiece.
UST almost pushed for an extension after forcing a 21-all deadlock in the fourth, but Santiago came up with the clutch consecutive attacks before UST’s Regina Jurado committed a crucial error. The match ended after a strong attack from Tubu in favor of Adamson.
Eya Laure topscored for UST with 17 points but it was not enough as the Lady Tigresses registered 32 errors all throughout the match.
Adamson now keeps hold of solo second in the standings, while UST falls down to third together with NU.
