The Adamson University Lady Falcons survived another five-set match against the University of the East Lady Warriors in UAAP Women’s Volleyball, 19-25, 25-11, 16-25, 25-16, 15-12, Sunday, at FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan City.

Despite playing sans rookie Chiara Permentilla who sprained her ankle, the roster of Adamson was still loaded with Jema Galanza, Eli Soyud, and Mylene Paat as their wingers.

The Lady Falcons played inconsistently in the match, losing then winning sets alternately. But the veterans stepped up in the crucial deciding fifth set, refusing to repeat the history to finally outlast the resilient Lady Warriors.

After a 4-all deadlock, unforced errors from UE allowed Adamson to pull away and establish a 9-5 advantage. The Lady Warriors were able to inch closer twice when they cut down the deficit, 9-8, then 12-11. But the San Marcelino-based squad was on a mission, as the graduating seniors Jema Galanza and Mylene Paat provided the final blow to seal the game.

Adamson dominated UE in the attacking department, 62-39, but it was cancelled out by their own unforced errors. They tallied a whopping 35 errors against the 26 of the Lady Warriors.

Jema Galanza finished the match with another triple-double performance built on 18 attacks, 22 excellent digs, and 11 excellent receptions.

Meanwhile, Mary Ann Mendrez topscored for UE with 17 markers followed by the 12 of Shaya Adorador.

Player of the Game: Jema Galanza, 22 points (17 markers, 2 blocks, 3 service aces).
