The Adamson University Lady Falcons ended their season on a winning note after stunning the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons in straight sets, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday at the FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan.
The first set started with an early neck-and-neck battle, but Adamson created a separation midway after establishing a 19-13 lead. The Lady Falcons then continued to roll to draw first blood in the match.
Fortunately, winning the first frame seemed to have motivated Adamson as they sustained their momentum in the next two sets to abruptly paralyze the skidding Lady Maroons for their second win this season.
Chiara Permentilla emerged as the top scorer for Adamson with 16 points, while graduating seniors Joy Dacoron and Eli Soyud ended their UAAP career with 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
On the other hand, it was only the tandem of Tots Carlos and Isa Molde with a combined effort of 23 points that carried the Lady Maroons. It was a painful loss for UP that suffered their fourth consecutive defeat that also marked the last game of seniors Ayel Estranero and Marian Buitre.
