Manila, Philippines – Adamson University thrashed the University of Santo Tomas, 96-83, to secure their place in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After a 62-48 loss to no. 1 Ateneo De Manila University last Sunday, Adamson bounced back and improved to a 9-3 win-loss record in the team standings and secured their place in the semifinals for the third consecutive season.

Down by a point after the second quarter, Adamson blasted their way through the third period with a 15-0 run and created a comfortable 54-40 advantage.

The Growling Tigers came close within seven points, 54-47, but Jerrick Ahanmisi came alive and shot back-to-back triples to stretch their back to a double-digit lead, 68-52.

With only four minutes left in the game, UST was not able to make a comeback anymore after Germy Mahinay was fouled out of the game and super rookie CJ Cansino injured his left ankle.

Cansino managed to comeback in the last two minutes, but it was too late for UST to stop the bleeding as Manganti iced the game with consecutive baskets.

Manganti paved the way for Adamson with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Simon Camacho chipped in 15 markers.

Ahanmisi was dry in the first half and was limited to only 13 points in the game.

On the other hand, Renzo Subido led UST with 21 points, while team captain Marvin Lee had 18 markers.

Rookie Cansino, though got injured late in the fourth, managed to fill the stat sheets with 17 points, 12 rebounds and six assists as the Growling Tigers dropped to 5-7, one game behind University of the Philippines and Far Eastern University for the fourth spot.
