After decreasing their chances for the twice-to-beat advantage, the Adamson University Lady Falcons formalized their Final Four entry after defeating the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 25-20, 27-25, 23-25, 25-15, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament, Saturday, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Falcons showed composure in the second set where they surpassed a 22-24 deficit and successfully staged a comeback for a 2-0 advantage.
However, UP fought back in the third set through the run led by Niña Ytang and Jewel Encarnacion. Adamson looked to force a deadlock, 23-24, but a timely kill block on Trisha Tubu gave the third frame to the Lady Maroons.
Adamson quickly retaliated in the fourth as they started a 12-5 run. They never looked back and maintaned a double-digit cushion to end the match and complete the four-set win.
Louie Romero steered the Adamson offense with 23 excellent sets, orchestrating a balanced offense with three players finishing in double digits.
Lucille Almonte led the Lady Falcons with 13 points, while the lefty duo of Kate Santiago and Trisha Tubu had 11 points each.
Adamson is now back in the Final Four after missing the semis since Season 76.
Meanwhile, three players also produced double-digits for UP as they registered their 11th loss this season.
