Adamson University Lady Falcons tallied their fourth win in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament after taking down the skidding Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles, 25-18, 25-23, 25-19, Sunday, at the Philsports Arena.
The Lady Falcons successfully exacted their revenge on the Lady Eagles who defeated them in pre-season collegiate tournaments.
Rookie Trisha Tubu powered Adamson with a season-high performance, scoring 23 points on 22 attacks and a service ace. Kate Santiago and Lorene Toring combined for 19 points, while Louie Romero dished out 20 excellent sets which resulted in 51 attacks against the 38 of Ateneo.
After quickly pocketing the first set, Adamson fought tooth and nail in the second frame with a series of deadlocks until the crucial stretch of the set. Tied 21-all, Toring did all the damage with unanswered running attacks to reach set point.
The Lady Eagles were able to inch closer within a point, 23-24, but Santiago ended the set with a fast-tempo down the line attack.
It was all Adamson in the third set with Tubu, Santiago, and Toring scoring from all sides of the courts to complete the sweep. Meanwhile, only Faith Nisperos scored in double-digits for Ateneo with 17 points.
Adamson is now tied with NU at second spot, while Ateneo fell down to sixth place with a 1-4 standing, tied with UP.
