The dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis flexed their muscles anew and powered the Los Angeles Lakers to a 124-114 win over the undermanned Miami Heat in Game 2 of the 2020 NBA Finals on Saturday, October 3.
James flirted with a triple-double while Davis wound up with a monster double-double as the Lakers erected a crucial 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
James piled up a game-high 33 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, one steal and a block in a monster 39 minutes of action on the floor.
The six-foot-10 Davis was also a big thorn on the Heat side as he came away with 32 points, 14 boards, one assist and a block.
Veteran playmaker Rajon Rondo also delivered the goods for the Lakers as he came off the bench to contribute 16 points, 10 assists and four rebounds.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Kuzma added 11 markers each.
Playing minus two starters, the Heat managed to stay within striking distance but simply couldn’t come up with a needed push to pull off a stunner.
Starting center Bam Adebayo and starting pointguard Goran Dragic didn’t suit up due to various injuries, leaving a gaping hole in the Heat’s attack.
In the playoffs, Adebayo is averaging 17.8 points and 10.9 rebounds while Dragic is good for 19.9 points a game.
Jimmy Butler paced the Heat with 25 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds, while second stringer Kelly Olynyk pitched in 24 points, nine rebounds and two assists.
