The San Beda Red Lions completely dominated the Arellano Chiefs to get its fifth straigh title via a 89-70 win, in game 2 of the NCAA Season 90 Basketball championship at the Mall of Asia Arena.
It is the 19th overall title for the Red Lions and eighth in the last nine seasons.
San Beda showed no mercy as they practically manhandled first-time finalists Arellano as they led most of the way. San Beda started to pull away from the Chiefs in the second period, with Dan Sara nailing two straight triples and Semerad also burying one to put the Red Lions ahead by 15, 31-16. Entering the final quarter, Keith Agovida would score four straight points but PBA bound Kyle Pascual would immediately douse cold water on Arellano’s run by scoring six unanswered points. From then on, it was smooth sailing already for San Beda as Agovida and Ciriacruz would foul out of the game one after the other.
NCAA Finals MVP Anthony Semerad scored 30 points in his final game as a Red Lion. “It’s my last game so I gave everything I got,” Semerad said. Kyle Pascual and Ola Adeogun who are also playing their final game scored 16 and 15 points respectively.
Keith Agovida paced Arellano with 22 points while Ice Ciriacruz backed him up with 15 points.
