Scottie Thompson Earns Nod As NCAA Season 90 MVP #NCAA90

University of Perpetual Help’s Earl Scottie Thompson bagged the Most Valuable Player award for Season 90 of the NCAA. He officially took his trophy at the NCAA’s awarding ceremonies held before Game One of the finals at Mall of Asia Arena.
Thompson averaged 17.4 points (fourth best), 11.4 rebounds (fifth), 5.7 assists (second) and 1.6 steals (seventh) for the Altas in the elimination round to top all players in the statistical race. He also led the Altas to a 11-7 win-loss record which was fourth best in the league. He also became the Altas’ first MVP since Jojo Manalo won the award back in 2000.
Joining Thompson in the Mythical Five are Altas teammate Harold Arboleda, San Beda’s Ola Adeogun, Bradwyn Guinto of San Sebastian and Arellano’s Jiovani Jalalon.
First time NCAA finalists Arellano University had a good share of awardees as Jalalon copped this year’s Most Improved Player award while American Dioncee Holts earned the Rookie of the Year honors.
Lyceum’s Joseph Gabayni bagged the Defensive Player of the Year award. Joining him are mythical five awardees Thompson, Guinto and Adeogun. Completing the defensive team is AbdulRazak AbdulWahab of Jose Rizal University.
In the juniors division, Jose Rizal’s Darius Estrella emerged as the MVP while UPHDS’s Raphael Chavez took the Rookie of the year honors.
